Proud Parents

John and I were so proud to attend a recognition dinner with Danny at the University of Redlands the night before he received his master's degree. Danny was honored as the top student in his Graduate Program for Education Administration. Danny is a 7th grade English teacher at Fontana Middle School. John teaches 7th grade history at Grace Yokley Middle school in Ontario. Recently, when a student moved, he transferred from Mr. Todd's (the Dad's) classroom, into Mr. Todd's (the son's) classroom. What a lucky kid! (Actually, he thinks he is.)

Angels Landing Was a Blast

Just a few photos from our early morning Angels Landing Hike. We got up early and caught the 5:45 a.m. shuttle to the trail head and finished up the hike in time to get back to camp for a nice late morning breakfast.

Camping and Hiking in Zion National Park

Image
All my kids, their spouses and I spent an entire day hiking up The Narrows in Zion National Park. This is something I've been wanting to do for years. Its great to struggle up through the water while enjoying the colorful, tall narrow canyon walls. Its such a refreshing break from all the hustle and bustle from my usual Southern California lifestyle. Danny and I spent another afternoon tubing down the Virgin River as well. And, several of us hiked up Angels Landing. What a great accomplishment that was...its something I didn't even know about until my jogging friend, Susan Holland, mentioned that she had done it with her siblings a few weeks earlier. I thought, "If Susan can do it, so can I". I am so glad I had the confidence to make it up there and the courage just to hang on to the chains toward the end of the hike. Next summer, Half Dome!
